At what point in the build should this part be installed?

This part is best installed after you’ve assembled your seats. The space between the seat and the recliner lever provides enough pressure to securely hold the PMD Trim piece in place. Once the seats are attached to the chassis, the trim won’t move. Some customers have successfully added this part even after the car was fully assembled, though I haven’t personally tested that method yet.

Why is there a Mike Lane version with a different paint code?

This version uses the paint code recommended in Mike Lane’s painting guide. If you followed his instructions, this part will match perfectly, so you won’t need to paint it yourself. That’s the only difference—there’s no impact on compatibility with any of his other parts regardless which version you purchase.
